Good prices enable this church to encourage youth

Dear Skye and everyone at Mt Gravatt Bus Service,

You have been such a support to us this year! We want to express our deepest thanks and appreciation, because without people like you, youth programs like The Pre-Teen Dream Team would not exist. You help us to make it all happen. The prices you have given us all year have enabled us to continue to speak into the lives of over 100 youth this year alone, and you are a part of that.

We wish you all the most wonderful Christmas. May love, peace, joy, faith and hope be yours in ever increasing measures. May God bless your business greatly and we continue together into 2005.

From all of us on the Dream Team and from The Riverside Christian Church Graceville, Merry Christmas.

—Karen McLeod, Youth Leader and Event Coordinator, Riverside Christian Church, Graceville Qld

Student thanks safe, friendly driver

Dear Jon,

My name is Naje and I would like to say thank-you for getting us to camp and back to school safely.

Your driving was careful and safe I liked on the way back we got to have the radio on. I also think you were the best bus driver I have ever met. Your weren’t grumpy like some bus drivers you were very nice.

So thank-you for driving us safely. Next time I am on a bus I hope the driver is you.

Recalling a fantastic birthday outing

Hello Les,

I would like to take this opportunity of telling you about our bus trip yesterday for my birthday party. The bus arrived promptly on time and what a bus it was - absolutely beautiful!! My first impression was with Pat, he had a lovely warm welcoming smile and the bus was so spotlessly clean and had a lovely airy open feeling about it - I was very suitably impressed, and so were my guests, who had no idea what the day had in store.

We were safely driven to our destination at the Fishbowl Restaurant at Redcliffe where Pat was able to drop us off very close to the venue. He then again promptly returned at exactly 3pm and parked right outside so that we could all climb aboard, we all felt very important and special and everyone in the restaurant was looking at us boarding (probably jealous they couldn’t come with us).

We had the most fantastic day, everyone enjoyed the bus trip and all thought it was such a fabulous novel idea and we had the best fun - just as Pat!

Our trip home went all to quickly and before we knew it, we were back home at 4pm.

To you Les, Pat, and staff, a very big thank you for a job exceptionally well done in providing us with a bus that suited our purposes wonderfully, even my very elderly mother was able to get on and off without too much difficulty.

I certainly have absolutely no hesitation in recommending your bus company.

Kindly, safe drivers strike right chord with music campers

Dear Les

I am writing to extend my thanks to your drivers and staff for great service during the recent Corinda District Music Camps.

As always we experienced professionalism, goodhumoured service, value for money, punctuality and quality coaches. I know that I can honestly tell concerned parents that their children are well looked after and that they are transported safely and spoken to kindly by your drivers.

Please pass on my thanks to those drivers involved. We look forward to using your wonderful services again on June 3 and June 7 in 2002.

—Margot Payne, Camps Administrator, 2001 Corinda District Music Camps

Dear Management & staff

We, the staff, parents and friends of Sunnybank Uniting church After school child care wish to thank you for the fantastic time had by all, on our shopping tour on Saturday the 20th of October 2001.

The staff, parents and friends thoroughly enjoyed the day and certainly found great bargains to bring home and “brag” about. We would certainly like to use your wonderful company again for another tour next year in about May/June.

On behalf of us all, we would like to pass on the inclosed certificates of appreciation for a job well done.

Thanking you all, Leisa Pritchard and the staff of Sunnybank Uniting Church After school child care.

Helpful staff member praised

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to you today to tell you how much I appreciate the service of one of your staff, namely Ms Trish Phillips.

Ms Phillips has a wonderful telephone manner and very good listening and communication skills. I didn’t have to repeat myself once.

I have been very frustrated by other bus companies in trying to find out how to send my child, from Grassdale Rd Belmont, to Cannon Hill College.

Ms Phillips explained how my son could get to the school, and then she took my ph. no. and got back to me within 10 mins with accurate return information.

My son’s safety is paramount to me, and I just have to trust what people tell me. I am looking forward to utilizing your bus service in a year when my son is (hopefully!?) accepted into that school.

Congratulations, on employing such wonderful staff.

—Mrs Chris Gatward SRN, Belmont Qld

Pleasant staff and good humoured service mean great value for money

Dear Del

I am writing to extend my thanks to your drivers and staff for great service during the recent Corinda District Music Camp to Alexandra Headland.

As always, we experienced professionalism, good humoured service, value for money and quality coaches. We have tried other companies recently without success, and are very happy to have returned to your excellent service. I know that I can honestly tell concerned parents that their children are well looked after, they will be transported safely and spoken to kindly by drivers.

Please pass on my thanks to those drivers involved. We look forward to using your services again on June 4 and 8 in 2001.

Safety is prime concern—always!

Dear Jon & Max

Once again, on behalf of Ashmore State School Year 7’s and teachers, thank you for an excellent trip.

At all times safety is your prime concern—it shows! You are courteous and most helpful— nothing is too much trouble.

It is great to have two drivers who relate so well to the teachers and pupils. A large amount of the success of the trip is due to the planning of Trish and your work for the week. Please pass on our thanks to Trish.

Enclosed are cards from a few pupils. Hope to see you next year.

—Wayne Lightbourne, Ashmore State Primary School, Ashmore Qld

The big difference between OUR care for kids ... and other ways of running a bus service

In direct contrast with Mt Gravatt Coach & Travel’s caring driver policy is this story of a Sydney government bus trip taken by one of our contacts in February 2005:

I was sitting near the front of the bus one Sunday, going into the city.

A boy about 11 got on and went down the back. Next stop, a man of about 70 got on, and also went down the back.

Soon, the boy came back and sat in a seat across from me. The old guy promptly sat in front of meand started (or more likely continued) teasing the boy, who told him to stop.

I wondered whether they knew each other, so familiarly did he treat the boy. The boy’s facial expression and body language told me he wasn’t enjoying the attention.

I tapped the man on the shoulder and said, “He doesn’t seem to want to know you.”

The man just laughed at me and continued teasing the boy, lunging as if to grab him.

I raised my voice, tapped him harder on the shoulder, and said, “He doesn’t like it. Stop it now!” He still treated it as a joke.

I nudged him again, fixed him with my steeliest gaze and said, very loudly, “He said NO! Don’t you understand, you stupid git?”

Fortunately, the boy got off soon after, and the man didn’t. He sat where he could continue to make eye contact with me, pulling silly faces.

Amazingly, the bus driver seemed to have noticed nothing. Neither did the only other passenger who was reading a book nearby.
